Due Monday, March 18th
Part 1:
At the end of the Chopra book, he outlines a number
of exercises that we can practice to get us more in tune with the universe. For
the first part of the blog post this week, I want you to try two of them and
then reflect on your experience. What did you notice after completing the
exercises? How did they make you feel? Would you consider practicing them
(semi) regularly in the future for the beneficial reasons Chopra explains?
Activity #1: Silent Meditation (p151-152) – Make sure
you spend at least 10 minutes on this (15-20 minutes would be ideal).
Activity #2: Superhero Brain Meditation (p158-159) –
while practicing this meditation, choose two additional activities from p
160-161 (the onese where you imagine sounds, sensations, colors).
Part 2:
This week, we began with a discussion of Morris’
article Batman and Friends which builds on Aristotle’s categorization of
friendship and relates it to the Bat -Family. Aristotle says, “Without friends
no one would choose to live, though he had all other goods…”
What kind of friendships do you have in your
life, in Aristotelian terms? Can you imagine one of your current relationships
ascending to the level of a Friendship of Virtue? What conditions would have to
be present for this to happen?
